Leigh Lambert hails from Newcastle-Upon-Tyne, where he spent his first two decades. He took to drawing from a young age and his family noticed his talent early on. Throughout his schooling years, his highly detailed works caught the eye of teachers who were impressed by his ability to depict scenes accurately. Despite this, Lambert considers himself mainly self-taught as he did not pursue any official education or training in art.
In 1996, Leigh Lambert moved with his family to Warwickshire, where he dedicated himself to refining his technique. It was during this time that he started to value his upbringing in a new light. The bustling city of Newcastle, previously seen as a concrete jungle, now held a unique kind of beauty. Drawing from his childhood experiences, Lambert's artwork captures a strong sense of nostalgia and fond memories of a common youth.
Lambert is a versatile artist who excels in various forms of media. His preferred medium is oil on board, where he employs a minimalist approach to color. In his paintings, he uses vibrant hues sparingly, specifically highlighting the playful figures within an otherwise monochromatic landscape. This technique beautifully captures the exuberance and liveliness of youth.
Operating from his garden studio, the artist has experienced considerable triumph in recent times. In fact, in 2014 Leigh Lambert was even nominated for Best Up and Coming Artist at the renowned Fine Art Trade Guild Awards. As a result, demand for his pieces has skyrocketed. Limited editions regularly fly off the shelves in a matter of weeks, and there are already queues forming for those desiring to add an original painting to their collection.
