(4 products)

After graduating from Canterbury College Of Art, Colin Brown built a 24-year career as an illustrator-visualizer in the West Country. As a freelancer, he collaborated with various Advertising, Design, and 3D companies in Bath, Bristol, London, and Europe. During this time, he worked on numerous campaigns for notable companies including Hasbro, Mattel, Cadbury's, Saga, and Corgi Toys. He often worked closely with designers to create visuals and see projects through to the final illustration stages. Later on, he also took on illustrating assignments for publishing purposes such as teaching books, magazines, posters and even had the opportunity to work with The Guinness Book Of Records.

Colin Brown is a talented artist whose main focus is on street scenes from around the world. Through his loose and impressionistic style, he aims to capture the atmosphere and sense of actually being there. Drawing inspiration from the Impressionists and Fauvism, Colin utilizes his own unique visual techniques in his work. In addition to taking on commissions, he also conducts workshops and gives live demonstrations.

Colin's work is heavily inspired by the Impressionist movement, but he has an appreciation for all styles of painting. He enjoys creating pieces that have a sense of freedom and fluidity, not being restricted by intricacies. His goal is to capture a mood or feeling and recreate a fleeting moment on the canvas. In his artistic process, Colin prioritizes the use of light as the key element in his paintings, adding in details only when necessary to tie the composition together.

Having experience as both a Visualiser and an Illustrator, Colin Brown's techniques today are heavily influenced by his visualising background. He has a distinct style but also enjoys experimenting within it. While Colin appreciates all forms of art, he finds great inspiration in Monet and his use of paint and single strokes of color. Similarly, Colin strives to make each brushstroke purposeful and visible, creating a dynamic sense of movement in his work.
