There’s not many cars that the iconic Mini doesn’t steal the show with when sharing the same automotive scene or stage, and on this pictorial occasion the story’s no different. Despite the presence of the gorgeous Lamborghini Miura; a legend in its own vehicular right. Illustrated to absolute perfection my respected motorsport artist, Tony Smith, Sir Alec Issigonis’s finest motoring hour (and there was a few) is one half of an impromptu photo call instigated by who we believe to be the Mini’s owners, not wanting to miss the opportunity to capture this most unusual of pairings for a future album. As many before them, the Mini’s owners are recreating the Italian Alps journey that rally driver, paddy Hopkirk might well have taken years earlier, when he steered the Mini to Monte Carlo rally glory and straight into the history books from where it’s never looked over its shoulder.
