What’s more fittingly nostalgic than the artistic impression of a collection of Minis decked out in red, white and blue exterior colours racing around the mountainous roads of the Italian Alps, recreating their very own Italian Job, albeit over forty years after Paddy Hopkirk laid the motorsport foundations and helped make automotive history happen. All with the impossible otherwise assistance of an unassuming little car that was as the epicentre of this history making chapter. Nothing, precisely. Hence this uniquely illustrative capture of said impregnation in our minds, courtesy of the very visual interpretation of in demand motorsport artist, Tony Smith. No stranger to the subject matter, Smith originally pictorially documented the actual Italian Job, yet here focuses on those that make the petrolhead’s pilgrimage annually test themselves as drivers and their beloved Minis as to their underpinned racing pedigree.
