Alice may have returned to Wonderland (albeit may years after her first foray) but something has clearly changed in the passing of time. Not least her own complexion and physical presence, as we cast our furtive glances on a half Alice, half Red Queen vision in this very latest Autumn 2015 pictorial offering by one of the UK’s most cherished and collectable contemporary fine art exponents, Mr Peter Smith. He of Impossimal fame is back with his usual graphic verve and illustrative vigour this season, complete with his brand new ‘Lost Alice’ portfolio as observed hereabouts.

Having fallen head-first into another sizeable hole (this time as imagined by Smith himself as part of his own hand-penned 14-part revisiting of Lewis Carroll’s original story), Alice’s Grandfather clock-starting re-adventure is full of what can only be described as darker, slightly macabre and more eccentric visual twists and turns, perhaps more compositionally akin to the more modern works of Tim Burton for example. The resultant picture painted – such as this ‘Mirror, Mirror on the Wall, Who's the Fairest of them All’ is a joy to behold, and in its stated hand-signed, canvas on board limited edition form and function is destined to meet with the approval of 150 new owners in but a flash. Don’t say we didn’t afford you advanced warning!
