John Mould was born in 1958 and grew up in the small village of Barlaston in Staffordshire. As a child, John Mould's fascination for animals grew with him, and where possible John would nurse sick and injured animals or birds back to health. It was this close contact with animals that led John to start drawing and eventually painting wildlife, striving for accuracy.

John Mould began gaining commissions to paint peoples' domestic pets. At the age of nineteen with an ever growing reputation John became self employed and produced artwork for companies: Wedgewood, Spink, Coalport, Gordon Frazer and Wildlife sculptures for Waterford Aynsley. In the past John has produced his own limited edition sculptures and prints which have proved very successful.

The area of wildlife John Mould finds most interesting is the subject of big cats, he has been painting the subject over the past few years. As a self taught artist John believes that his talent for painting is founded on his love for animals.
