David Laity is a Australian artist who believes that the important things: inspiration, passion, perseverance and dedication cannot be taught but must come from within.
David Laity's work focuses on sensual form. He is inspired by or modelled on his wife and muse, Regina, these are the images that he is most passionate about. David appreciates that success comes from painting what you feel strongly about. 'I paint what I love. I love the sensuality and beauty of the female form. My works are a celebration of love and intimacy. I'm endeavouring to show that sexuality is something that can and should be celebrated.'
David's work continues to be highly sought after by collectors Australia-wide. David is currently working on his next solo show. 1958 Born June 27 in Wangaratta, Victoria.
1963 - 83 Educated in Benalla. David Completes Motor Mechanic Apprenticeship. Abandons mechanics to take up cartooning, creates the comic strip 'Rat Race' which he draws daily for eight years. David Develops his cartooning to include single frame and full colour work.
David and Regina celebrate the birth of their daughter,Remy Yvette. David's first serigraph wins a Gold Medal at the Australasian Screen Print Awards.
