The Avengers are an ever-changing band of Stan Lee-devised superheroes, whose business it is to fight "the foes no single superhero can withstand." The team, famous for its battle cry of ‘Avengers Assemble!’ has featured humans, mutants, robots, aliens, supernatural beings, and even former villains in its transient ranks over the years (and many pages) of Marvel Comic book stories. And the reason The Avengers ever came into fruition was as a result of Marvel’s arch rivals, DC Comics (home of Batman, Superman, Flash Gordon, Wonder Woman, et al) launching their own Team Superheroes; namely, ‘Justice League of America’.
This particular composition illustrated here, finds Thor, Ant Man, Wasp, Iron Man, Hulk and Captain America going into battle with an unseen enemy, in glorious Technicolor. Or the equivalent palette of the day. Either way, ‘The Avengers; Earth’s Mightiest Heroes’ make for a fantastic Marvel Comics’ cover, and therefore in turn makes for a sublime Giclee study, mounted and currently available to order as one of a limited edition run of 295 examples of the genre.
