Fantastic close up image of sugared candy canes by Sarah. Sweets have become a trademark image of Sarah. Often a double take is required due to the almost photographic quality of her work.

We have sold Sarah's images, where they have been hung, to owners of Old Fashioned Sweet shops that have recently made a comeback on our high streets. Sherbet Lemons, Kola Kubes, Sweet Peanuts, Black Jacks and Fruit Salad are just a few of the old style retro sweets that can be purchased by the quarter .

The candy cane has been made since the 17th century. Initially it was simply a white sugar stick with no stripes or cane shape for children to eat. Sweet sellers then started making them by hand, adding the colouring and hook like shape. Being a very timely procedure this often made them very hard to source.
